Commentary
This painting is thickly and richly colored in the style
of Van Gogh's Cyprus. It shpws a simple pastoral scene of a shack next
to a tree in the wood in the mountains. The general feeling which comes
is of peace and tranquility. The way the snow caps rest on the mountains
is beautiful. Indeed, the piece is imbued with a deep sense of contentedness.
Perhaps, as a counterpoint, the simple life is best.
